Accupuncture School
Acupuncture schools all over the world are cultivating students pursuing eastern medicine in modern society. Schools cover topics relating to the ancient methods of healing, first discovered over 2000years ago in China. Only after completing four years of accupuncture training at an approved college of Oriental Medicine and can pass a challenging written and practical exam can an individual assume the title of “Licensed Acupuncturist” or L.Ac. When choosing an accupuncure school, it is important that education you are receiving is accredited by the ACAOM (Accreditation Commission for the Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine) or another accreditation agency recognized for the approval of programs dealing with acupuncture and oriental medicine.
The Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, which is accredited by the ACAOM,
is one of the best acupuncture schools in the western United States. Their
students have averaged the highest rates on the National and California state
exam for the last 14 years, and their alumni have gone on to be some of the
most popular teachers and practitioners in the U.S. today. (www.pacificcollege.edu)
Tuition for these top schools like these run
about the same as a medical school will charge, however Financial Aid can be
applied for at an accredited acupuncture school. There is a required minimum
of 60 hours from an accredited degree granting college for admittance into
many acupuncture schools that will transfer over at the time the application
is accepted. Nearing the end of accupuncture training, students will intern
on rotations at local hospitals and clinics to round out their education and
prepare them for their careers as acupuncturists.
