Correspondence Law School
The online study of law and correspondence degrees in law is in its very early stages. No American Bar Association-accredited law school as yet offers the basic JD degree online, although several accredited schools offer online LLM degrees to graduate students. Correspondence law schools and other institutions are still experimenting with basic instructional technology, and educators and professional associations are as yet unsure of the efficiency of learning law online, as opposed to face-to-face in traditional classroom settings. If you are a graduate student, law school by correspondence is still a viable choice. Those without a graduate degree will need to keep an ear open for the first correspondence law school that becomes available. In 1999 US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said publicly that she was troubled by the emergence of Internet-based law schools, a comment that prompted extensive discussion on JURIST, as later reported in the New York Times.
